Stardew Valley is a farm life simulation game Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone developed. Players take the role of a character who inherits their deceased grandfather’s dilapidated farm in a place known as Stardew Valley. The game was released for Windows in February 2016 before being ported to other platforms.
Unfortunately, a rough release window wasn’t shared, but if the update is just in its bug-fixing phase, it’d be a safe bet to say it’ll drop sometime in February, or perhaps early March.
Recent X( formally known as Twitter) tweets have foreshadowed a new and upcoming update that is said to “widen” the players in gameplay without using extensions or mods. The next official Stardew Valley update has been teased by the game’s developer, who’s said it’s “larger” than originally planned.
The new update was teased for release during this month but has since been delayed due to it being much bigger than originally planned. It’ll bring various new content like items, festivals, and more.
After sharing a progress update on Twitter (or X), one fan asked if the new content would be accessible partway into a playthrough, or if players would need to start over to unlock everything.
ConceredApe responded, “That won’t be a problem and you will see most of the new content that way, but I still might recommend a new file just for fun and to see everything in context.”
This might shock some players and have them worrying if they should say goodbye to their current save files in favor of beginning anew, but as the creator said, you should be fine sticking to your current playthrough.
Fans have already deduced that the new major event being added Stardew Valley is a New Year’s festival after ConcernedApe shared an image of the festival on X on New Year’s Eve 2023. Since then, the developer’s X page has been quiet, with nothing more than fans continuing to respond to its most recent post about the New Year’s festival.
One fan, in particular, named Zoe Waltz responded, “I’m a decorating girly personally so I would love to see more things we can put inside and outside of our house, I’m disappointed that I think they canceled the New Year’s celebration and finally I would love to see maybe more animals for pet features added to the game. I would also like them to add co-op mode for the switch.”. Many fans have been stalking the creator’s Twitter page for new updates only to end up dry for a while.
Speaking about the update on Twitter, ConcernedApe said: “1.6 ended up being a little larger in scope than originally planned. I’m done adding major new content to it now, though, and it’s in a bug-fixing and polishing phase until it’s ready for release. Thx for your patience. It’ll be fun to see everyone play it!”
